The 7100 Steering cylinder has a 10” ID with a 5”
stainless steel hard-chromed piston rod. It is also
available with either bronze or steel castings with
the cylinder tube being made of pre-honed steel tubing
and spherical bearings at both ends of the cylinder.
The rear-type trunion mount allows for extremely easy
installation since the pre-drilled base plate provides
the flat and solid fittings to readily install this
cylinder in the steering gear compartment.
A foundation plate is required to withstand the strain imposed by
the cylinder of approximately 300,000 pounds (150 tons).
All the cylinders manufactured by Kobelt from 4” up,
are of the unbalanced type and therefore require the
minimum of two per steering system. Grease fittings are
provided on both ends to lubricate the spherical bearings.
