Upgrading and existing manual hydraulic system to power steering
is easy, since most of the system components are already installed on the
vessel. The full power follow-up valve and servo incorporated into the
cylinder eliminates the need for any steering linkage. The helmsman can
now effortlessly operate the rudder with complete control.
The Kobelt power steering system will handle rudder torques up
to 5,000 ft. lbs (695 kgms). This unit is available in 7.5", 10"
and 12" strokes. The 7147 can also be used in dual cylinder
installations, by adding one cylinder and two hoses. Made of high quality
bronze and stainless steel, the cylinders are virtually unaffected by the harsh
marine environment and will provide years of trouble free service.
Note: The foot for the 7147 is different than the 7050.
